How to get new customers

How to get new customers as we come out of lockdown

From our initial research findings, it seems like the top priority for lots of people as we come out of lockdown is to get new customers.

But what does that mean? Do you want new people who are hearing about you for the first time, people you already know or to attract back lapsed old customers?

Like anything, you need to be clear about what you want, as the strategy and activities will vary depending on whom you are targeting.
Considering each of the possibilities here are some thoughts:

New people

You can't communicate with the whole world so identifying the type of person you need to target based on current good customers is the starting point. How did you get your existing customers? Could you use similar techniques? Or could you ask your existing customers to refer you to people like them?

Existing contacts

Hopefully, you can easily communicate with your existing contacts. They are on an email list or social media links. So what do you say to them to convert them into clients? You need to identify what their problems or dreams are (like we are doing with our survey - please complete it and if you want I will even provide a personal response addressing your issues).
Once you know, then you can tailor products and services and messages to meet their needs.

Winning back lapsed clients

Now is a perfect time to catch up with past clients to see how they are doing, how they have coped during the lockdown and if there is any way you can help them.

Whichever type of new customer you want, remember your existing customers are still the most likely place to get more sales.
Ask them if you need to adapt what you offer for the new working environment. It is a way of starting a conversation and showing you care plus it may prompt a sale, establish where they are and their potential needs, and maybe identify a new service or product that they would like you to offer.

We can help if you need ideas, 30+ years of marketing experience or just an objective and honest perspective. Our Action Marketing Plan is an excellent place to start, and there is no charge if we fail to give you any good ideas.
