An MD running a manufacturing plant wanting a structure for international success

Initially the client needed support with a management buyout (MBO) from their partner who was retiring. Once this was successfully concluded then the organisation needed to reflect the new ownership and capitalise on the strengths of the new single owner.

What was the measure of success

Initially the client needed support with a management buyout (MBO) from their partner who was retiring. Once this was successfully concluded then the organisation needed to reflect the new ownership and capitalise on the strengths of the new single owner.

What we did

We mentored the client through the MBO and then helped with the structuring and systems of the company particularly providing support on the introduction of Lean Manufacturing and how to maximize its benefits.
By mentoring the entrepreneur on how to mentor his staff he was able to develop a key manager to be able to totally run the factory freeing the entrepreneur to focus on developing new markets, particularly overseas, and to develop capital machinery products for sale.

The impact

Our support has enabled the MD to ‘give away’ his routine tasks to members of his staff so that he could focus on his uniqueness, using his creativity to the maximum to create an international profile and build markets which have provided protection for the company as the economy has declined, so that it has been able to survive and thrive.
